One of the two teams that represent KwaTsaDuza in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League in the current 2018/2019 season, XI Experience, has officially been dropped back to the regional SAB League following their latest defeat against Pretoria Callies at the Lucas Moripe stadium in Tshwane on Saturday.
The 2-0 loss, their 19th of the season, means they are now 13 points from safety with just three matches to go. The team lying 14th on the log, which is two places above the Kwa-Thema-based club, Alexandra Black Aces, has 25 points while XI Experience has just 12. Both teams have played 27 games so far this season.
The drop was inevitable, given that Ma-Leven, as they are affectionately known, have occupied the bottom spot for the better part of the campaign, only winning twice and earning just six draws. Their goal difference of -30 also doesn’t speak of a team that deserved its place in a league with other National First Division contenders. And to make matters worse, their next match is against one of the title contenders Dondol Stars at the Kwa-Thema stadium on Saturday, which will come three weeks and two match days before they face another top team, Dube Continental, who are currently sitting fourth on the table, just 11 points behind the log-leading JDR Stars.
There’s also the small matter of the local derby against neighbours African All Stars at Tsakane stadium sandwiched between those two fixtures.
Meanwhile, the All Stars haven’t been doing that great either as they suffered their 10th defeat of the season at home against M. Tigers on Saturday, to stay on 11th spot on the log. They might be a long way from relegation danger, but can’t be too happy with how their season has fared given that they have won just seven games so far. The possibility of relegation is, in fact, not far-fetched for them when taking into consideration that the team sitting just above XI Experience, FC Ma-Lions, is 10 points behind them but with two games in hand.
That means if Ma-Lions win all five of their remaining games, and the teams above them – Black Aces, Leruma United and Tembisa Sport Centre – also do well in their respective remainders, Amazozo could very well find themselves in the relegation mix if they lose all three of their remaining games.
All Stars visit Ma-Lions in Tshwane in their last match of the season on April 27.
