Taxi driver gunned down at Duduza Rank
On Thursday at around 18:00 pm. Ekurhuleni East trio task team was patrolling along Vlakfontein Road in Kwa-Thema when it saw a group of people gathering around a Quantum taxi.

The team members stopped and interviewed some of the people who were on site and were told that the driver was shot immediately after he stopped at corner Vlakfontein Road and Majola Street.

It is alleged that the driver had passengers from Germiston taxi rank and was taking them to Tsakane. He was allegedly shot after stopping for a routine exchange of passengers with another taxi.

The victim was a 36-year-old African male residing in Tsakane. He allegedly sustained one gun shot wound on his back, and was declared dead by the paramedics.

The Kwa-Thema South African Police Service (SAPS) Station Commander Colonel Mareketle Thobejane says the motive behind the shooting is unknown at this stage, and is pending further investigation.
