Man dies in Tsakane shooting

Taxi operators were shot in Tsakane on Monday near Ndabezitha and Ndaba Street, leaving one dead and one in critical condition in hospital. Tsakane Police spokesperson, Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu, said three armed African males driving a black Toyota Run X vehicle fled from the scene just after pulling firearms and intentionally shooting at bystanders.

Due to the violent shooting, Gauteng MEC of Transport, Ismail Vadi, shut down the taxi rank in a call to keep Tsakane residents safe. “One of the victims are in hospital while the other died on scene, we don’t know anything yet, we haven’t arrested anyone yet” said Mngomezulu.

Mngomezulu added that as this happened near a spot where taxi drivers change their routes, passengers were left unharmed.

The police are to continue with investigations.
