Ekurhuleni mayor encourages youth to pursue education

Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor, Councillor Mzwandile Masina has encouraged the youth of Ekurhuleni at the official opening of the Ekurhuleni Youth Empowerment Hub in Boksburg which was held on Wednesday this week to pursue education because it makes things possible.

Councillor Masina accompanied by the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Board Member, Joy Maimela made an example with the recent appointment of Kagiso Lerutla (33) as Chief Financial Officer of the City of Ekurhuleni.

“The appointment of our new group CFO, Mr Kagiso Lerutla who is only 33, is an indication to young people in the City that with education, anything is possible. Young people must develop themselves and chase their dreams.”

The Mayor said that they have made a commitment of empowering and uplifting the youth of Ekurhuleni.

“We have made a commitment to the City of Ekurhuleni’s young people that we are here to uplift and empower you. The Youth Directorate offices are here to curb the high level of unemployment.”

Joy Maimela has also encouraged the youth to utilise the new centre in the City.

“We have opened a place of hope and a hub for young people to flourish. The Ekurhuleni Youth Directorate (EYD) and the NYDA offices  are here to empower young people to thrive and create job opportunities too.”

The Youth Directorate and the NYDA offices will be a one-stop-shop which will also offer funding for youth-owned businesses, enterprise and business training and support for small to medium youth enterprises.
